Australia's Ambassador for Women & Girls
Natasha Stott Despoja was Australia's Ambassador for Women and Girls from 2014 - 2016.
"Over three years and 43 countries I saw the best and worst aspects of humanity. While the most confronting images and stories came from women who had experienced violence, Australians can be proud to know that our international aid transforms lives. We fund shelters for women, crisis centres, and supporting the introduction of legislation and policies to outlaw domestic violence as well as seeking measures to prevent such violence.
The time is right to advance the campaign to improve women's rights, and the need couldn't be greater.
We have to invest in women and girls if we want a world that is stable, secure and prosperous and one that grows."
